Despite the request of the German Prosecutor’s Office to accept the European Arrest Warrant for crimes of rebellion and embezzlement, the Schleswig-Holstein High Court rules out extraditing President Carles Puigdemont for the crime of rebellion and sets a bail of 75,000 euros for his release. The court continues to investigate extradition for the crime of embezzlement. The ANC and Òmnium pay the bail with money from the Caixa de Solidaritat solidarity fund and the next day the president is released from prison. On 9 May, after receiving new documentation and information from the Spanish judicial authorities, German Prosecutor’s Officewill once again request the extradition of Puigdemont for the crime of rebellion and also his imprisonment without bail.
